Discover the Flight

The Whisky

Found North's Goldfinch First Flight represents innovative Canadian whisky craftsmanship where high altitude maturation conditions in their specialized warehouses create unique aging environments for this complex five-component blend. This High Altitude Collection expression combines 15-22 year corn and 20 year rye whiskies, with two-thirds finished in Sauternes casks complemented by Cognac barrels and new American oak from Kelvin cooperage. The whisky opens with sticky-sweet red orchard fruit and crackling warmth, transitioning through bright white fruit and citrus notes with emerging baking spices and floral undertones. The creamy, rounded texture evolves into vanilla custard richness with balanced wood tannins, finishing with caramelized sugar sweetness before red fruit and cinnamon echo in the lingering aftertaste, reflecting the golden transitions of its namesake migratory bird.

The Four Quadrant Experience

First Quadrant - The Landing

Sticky-sweet texture and flavor with warm, crackling grip and dense red orchard fruit that sustains into the second quadrant.

Second Quadrant - The Transition

Texture rounds out as red fruit shifts to white fruit with subtle citrus undertones. Rich white fruit complements emerging baking spice and floral notes.

Third Quadrant - The Evolution

Texture fully brightens into round, creamy quality. Counterbalancing wood tannin develops alongside baking spice, especially on the side-palate with wood aromas and vanillin.

Fourth Quadrant - The Finish

Fruit fades while wood quality presents pairing of wood phenols and custard texture. Mild tannin balances caramelized sugar on the back half of the finish.

The Resolve

After the finish, red fruit returns with a cinnamon echo, completing the journey and inviting contemplation of this remarkable whisky's complexity.
