Bergström Wines, a family-owned estate in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, is dedicated to biodynamic farming practices. Established in 1999 by John and Josh Bergström, the winery is now run by Josh and his wife Caroline, celebrating 24 years of producing high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from their five monopole estate vineyards. Their commitment to sustainable farming and regenerative agriculture ensures maximum expression of the unique terroir.
The Pinot Noir 'Silice' from Bergström Wines is a standout wine from the Chehalem Mountains AVA. With its deep sandy soils and rolling hillsides, this 18-acre vineyard produces a wine with spicy and powerful notes of gingerbread, cola, and sassafras, complemented by a mild savory and floral lift. The 2018 vintage boasts an aromatic bouquet of sea breeze salinity, Christmas baking spices, and floral notes, with a suave and seamless palate of ripe, sweet, and dark fruit expressions.
A very composed and smoothly crafted style with pastry and poached-pear aromas, as well as fresh pear and honeydew. The palate delivers pear-pastry flavors in a seamless mode. Pure fruit quality here. Drink or hold.
Translucent ruby-red. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes candied cherry, raspberry, allspice and succulent herbs, and a sexy floral note emerges as the wine stretches out. Concentrated red fruit and floral pastille flavors are supported by a spine of juicy acidity and sharpened by an emerging mineral nuance. Smoothly marries power to finesse and finishes with strong, gently tannic persistence and lingering floral and spice notes. 10% new oak.
The 2018 Pinot Noir Silice Vineyard has broody aromas of tar and dark fruits on the nose with touches of dried herbs and flowers. The medium-bodied palate is firm and fresh, its dark fruits still youthfully coiled. Give it a couple years in bottle.
Bright pale crimson. Savoury nose with fine tannins. Complete with firm red-cherry notes. You could drink this now but there is no hurry. Lots of drive!
