XANADU CABERNET SAUVIGNON MARGARET RIVER 2020

Dr. John Lagan acquired Xanadu in 1999, repositioning the Margaret River estate around single-vineyard focus and Cabernet Sauvignon as its anchor variety. Gravelly loam soils over deep gravel with a Mediterranean climate — dry summers, mild winters — sit at the core of the wine's profile. The blend pulls in Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot alongside the dominant Cabernet, with oak aging adding measured toasty spice. It opens with blackcurrant, dark plum, and blueberry, backed by bay leaf and black olive, then finishes with cassis, dark chocolate, and supple tannins.
