Zweigelt is Austria's most-planted red grape, a cross of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent bred in 1922 — and Wimmer's Weinviertel bottling leans into the variety's naturally bright acidity rather than papering it over with heavy oak. Grown organically in the Weinviertel, a region northeast of Vienna known for its dry continental climate and loess-heavy soils, the wine is made with minimal intervention using only natural yeasts and no additives. Expect juicy red cherry, violet, and a peppery snap on the finish that keeps it food-friendly and refreshing.
