Sonnenuhr means sundial — there is an 18th-century one built into the cliff below these vines, and the Wehlen slope behind it is among the steepest stretches worked anywhere in the Mosel. Max Ferd. Richter has been in family hands for over 300 years and farms ungrafted vines here that are 80 to 100 years old, rooted in weathered grey slate. Fermentation stops at classic Kabinett weight, leaving real sweetness braced by sharp acidity. Wet stone and lemon lead, then white peach and green apple, finishing saline and mouthwatering.
