The Art Deco airship on the label is not decoration. Wines from the Mülheimer Sonnenlay were poured aboard the Zeppelins — the Hindenburg among them — in the 1920s and 30s, and Bauhaus artist Hans Schlösser drew the commemorative label still used today. The site is Richter's largest holding, an often extremely steep slope sitting on a dry riverbed left by the last ice age, where loose slate mixes with pebbles, loam and old river sand. That ground gives clear slate minerality alongside lively fruit: citrus, orchard apple, and a stony, dry-leaning finish.
