Within the former monastery site of Clos de la Hutte in La Possonnière, Boudignon farms a rare parcel of ungrafted Chenin Blanc—franc de pied vines rooted directly into solid schist, with patches of 10–15 centimeters of clay and sand before hitting bedrock. Practicing biodynamic viticulture with no malolactic fermentation, the 2022 is fermented and aged in a glass wine globe rather than oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered—an approach that strips away every variable except the vine and its soil. The 2022 scores 97 points (Vinous): massive concentration within a restrained, citrus-driven frame with seamless texture and a persistently saline finish.
