Tequila Ocho launched in 2008 when fifth-generation agave farmer and third-generation tequilero Carlos Camarena partnered with Tomas Estes to prove terroir exists in tequila, sourcing 100% Blue Weber agave from single estates across Jalisco's Los Altos (Highlands) region where volcanic soil and 7,000-foot elevations produce agave with higher sugar content than lowland plants. Camarena's great-grandfather introduced blue agave cultivation to the Highlands in the early 1900s, establishing the family's deep connection to this mineral-rich terroir. This Añejo rests one year in ex-American whiskey barrels, revealing roasted agave, dark chocolate, coffee, nutmeg, vanilla, dried fruit, and salted caramel with a buttery texture and long peppery finish that showcases the estate's agave character.
