The inventor of the Late Bottled Vintage category still sets the standard — this 2020 LBV from Taylor Fladgate draws from the same five indigenous Douro varieties that define the house style, including Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. Deep purple-ruby in the glass, it opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, and wild herbs before revealing raspberry, cherry, licorice, and coffee underneath. Dark chocolate, cedar spice, and leather round out the palate, with taut, fully integrated tannins and a long finish.
