Stoneleigh sources this Sauvignon Blanc from the Rapaura sub-region on the northern side of Marlborough's Wairau Valley — an ancient riverbed locally called the Golden Mile. The 178-hectare vineyard sits on deep, low-nutrient gravel studded with sunstones, river stones that reflect daytime sun into the canopy and radiate stored heat at night, ripening fruit early. Jamie Marfell has guided the winemaking since 2002, drawing on some of the region's oldest grafted Sauvignon Blanc blocks. Expect punchy grapefruit, white peach and passion fruit over tropical stone fruit, mouth-watering acidity and mineral tones, closing on lingering fresh passion fruit.
