SOM runs as a collective — a group of sommeliers and winemakers who each get an equal say in how the wines are made, which is a rarer arrangement than it sounds. The Sauvignon Blanc comes out of the Willamette Valley, a cool corridor far better known for Pinot Noir, where a long dry stretch late in the season lets Sauvignon ripen slowly without shedding acidity. Handled to keep the fruit bright and the texture lean. Grapefruit, lime zest and green melon, herbal and taut through the finish rather than tropical.
