Craigellachie, built in 1891 in Speyside and designed by legendary distillery architect Charles Doig, is known for a robust, meaty spirit character produced through its use of traditional worm tub condensers — one of only a handful of Scottish distilleries still employing them. The distillery draws water from Blue Hill springs and remains a cult favorite among single malt collectors for its oily, sulfurous intensity. Signatory Vintage finished this single cask (#105, 689 bottles) in a first fill sherry butt after initial maturation, distilled January 20, 2009 and bottled June 15, 2022 at cask strength 55.9% ABV, non-chill filtered with natural color. The sherry finish layers grilled orange peel, raisins, and cinnamon over the distillery's signature meaty weight, with walnut, dried fruit, and dark chocolate carrying into a long, charred oak and soot-tinged finish.
