Released to celebrate Signatory Vintage's 30th anniversary, this Bunnahabhain was distilled on January 29, 1975 and bottled September 7, 2018 after 43 years in a single refill sherry butt (cask #1267, bottle 98 of 276). Bunnahabhain, founded in 1881 on Islay's remote northeast coast, draws its name from the Gaelic for "mouth of the river" and produces an unpeated, coastal style distinct from its heavily smoked neighbors. Bottled at cask strength 51.8% ABV, non-chill filtered with natural color, this dram delivers dried fig, roasted chestnut, and aged soy umami on the nose, with dark honey, beeswax, and blackcurrant compote yielding to a long, earthy finish shaped by four decades of slow sherry-cask maturation.
