Linkwood, founded in 1821 near Elgin in Speyside, produces a fragrant, floral spirit prized by blenders as a "Class A" malt — most of its 5.6-million-litre annual output goes to Johnnie Walker and other Diageo blends, leaving official single malt bottlings scarce. The distillery's extended fermentation regime, reaching up to 105 hours, builds the fruit-forward character that defines its house style, while soft water from springs near Millbuies Loch contributes to a clean, delicate spirit. Signatory Vintage selected this single bourbon barrel (cask #800059), distilled May 14, 2008 and bottled December 5, 2017 at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered with natural color. Two additional years in oak compared to younger Linkwood bottlings add depth, delivering elderflower, grapefruit, and honeycomb on the nose, with orchard fruit, creamy vanilla, and a touch of almond on a silky, medium-bodied palate.
