Bunnahabhain, Islay's northernmost distillery, was accessible only by sea until the 1960s, and its remote northeast coastline shapes the briny, maritime character of the spirit. Signatory Vintage selected this single cask (#900208), distilled September 27, 2013 and bottled September 2, 2022 after eight years in a dechar/rechar hogshead — a refurbished cask scraped to fresh oak and recharred to caramelize the wood sugars. Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered with natural color, expect campfire smoke, salted caramel, and citrus peel on the nose, with iodine, smoked honey, and black pepper carrying into a long, ashy, brine-laced finish.
