The Zaninovich family pioneered Monterey's Arroyo Seco region in 1970, planting vineyards after recognizing the land's potential for quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, experimenting with rootstock and clonal selections until achieving their ideal combination. Founded in 2008 and named for Raymond Scott, the family's maternal grandfather, Scott Family Estate farms estate vineyards on distinctive gravelly sandy loam soils from old riverbeds studded with large river stones locally called "Greenfield Potatoes" that retain daytime heat and protect vines during cool nights. Marine fog and winds from Monterey Bay create one of California's longest growing seasons, with harvest sometimes extending into November. This 2024 Pinot Noir shows ripe cherry, raspberry, and sage aromatics with earthy undertones, delivering balanced acidity and a velvety texture across a medium-bodied palate that finishes smooth and persistent.
