Glacially carved morainic hills on the eastern shore of Lake Garda — a mix of limestone, clay, and mineral-rich sediment scoured from the Dolomites — give Bardolino Chiaretto its characteristic salinity and bright acidity. The blend here is 60% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 15% Molinara, the same native Veronese trio behind Amarone, vinified as rosé: brief skin contact to fix the pale pink color, then slow temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel to lock in freshness. Santi, founded in 1843 in Illasi and now part of Gruppo Italiano Vini, carries the wine entirely in cold steel to guard against oxidation. The result opens with ripe strawberry and wild cherry, gains a savory, mineral edge mid-palate, and finishes clean and crisp.
