SAN GIORGIO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO UGOLFORTE 2018

Extended aging in large Slavonian oak casks — the traditional choice for Brunello — gives San Giorgio's Ugolforte its characteristic structure without overwhelming the fruit. The estate farms Sangiovese on the galestro and alberese soils of Montalcino, a hilltown south of Siena where elevation and strong diurnal swings preserve natural acidity. The 2018 vintage delivered even ripening across the zone. In the glass, expect dried cherry, cedar, and leather with a hint of licorice, firm but integrated tannins, and a long, mineral-edged finish.
