Champagne's cool chalk bedrock stores moisture while reflecting heat, giving grapes the acid-driven tension that defines the region — and Roederer's Cristal, first produced in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II, remains among the most recognized cuvées to come from it. The 2016 blends Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from Roederer's estate vineyards, farmed with biodynamic practices. Aged under cork rather than crown cap, Cristal develops a creamy, autolytic depth. Expect ripe citrus, white peach, toasted brioche, and a long chalky finish underpinned by precise, mouthwatering acidity.
