Mencía-dominant field blends are rare enough; one pulling in Bastardo, Garnacha Tintorera, Palomino, and Doña Blanca from vines planted between the 1890s and 1940s is nearly singular. Those vines grow in Valtuille de Abajo on clay, alluvial stones, and sand — ground Raúl Pérez's family has farmed for over 300 years in Bierzo. Fermented 50–60% whole-cluster in large open-top oak vats with a 60-day maceration, then aged in 225–500L barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it delivers dark wild berry, violet, and earth with a savory, graphite-tinged finish.
