PLUMPJACK ESTATE OAKVILLE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2022

Clay-rich valley floor soils on Oakville's 42-acre estate, flanked by the Vaca Mountains on land with winemaking roots dating to 1881, set the foundation for one of Napa's more terroir-specific Cabernets. PlumpJack — co-founded by Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty in 1995 — farms the block organically and sustainably, with winemaker Aaron Miller cold-soaking the 2022 blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, and 4% Petit Verdot for up to six days before 20 months in 73% new French oak. Cassis, blueberry compote, and cherry lead, deepening into dark fruit preserves, cocoa, and warming spice with lightly chewy, well-integrated tannins on the finish.
