La Grande Côte is a monopole of the Cotat cousins—a steep, south-facing Chavignol lieu-dit of Kimmeridgian limestone with thin topsoil and 45-plus-year-old practicing organic Sauvignon Blanc vines that have made this estate's reputation as Sancerre's benchmark producer. Pascal Cotat ferments on indigenous yeasts in very old demi-muids before aging in old barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered—the same traditional methods his father Francis and uncle Paul mastered from 1947 onward. The 2024 delivers the estate's signature profile: citrus zest, white flowers, and flinty mineral precision with commanding structure and the acidity to age well beyond most Sancerre.
