ORNELLAIA RED 2019

Bolgheri, the coastal Tuscan DOC that made Bordeaux varieties a serious proposition in Italy, is where Ornellaia built its reputation across 99 acres of gravel, clay, and sandy soils warmed by Tyrrhenian sea breezes. The 2019 blends 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc from hand-selected, hand-picked grapes. Fermentation ran in stainless steel and concrete, followed by roughly 18 months in oak — 70% new — then six additional months in barriques post-blending. The wine delivers black pepper, sage, and balsamic lift on the nose, with dense, structured tannins and a long, crisp finish.
