Marlborough's Wairau Valley floor is defined by free-draining alluvial shingle soils and a cool maritime climate that keep acidity sharp and aromatics vivid — the combination that made the region synonymous with Sauvignon Blanc. Mount Riley, founded by John Buchanan in 1992, draws from the Dillon Vineyard where those stony soils overlook the Richmond Ranges and limit vine vigor. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness, the wine delivers lime zest, gooseberry, and feijoa on the nose with a clean, citrus-driven palate and a crisp, dry finish.
