Sangiovese in Brunello di Montalcino is always a long game, but Mocali's interpretation stands out for its roots in practicing organic farming across galestro soils at 400 meters elevation — a combination that drives pronounced minerality and structure into the wine. The Ciacci family were among the 25 founding members of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino in 1967, and the estate has farmed these 20 hectares for generations. The 2021 ferments in stainless steel, then ages one year in large Slavonian oak followed by two years in French oak botte. Macerated cherry, licorice, wild herb, and menthol, with a silken texture and mineral-tinged finish.
