MOCALI BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2018

The Ciacci family has farmed Mocali since the 1950s, making it one of Montalcino's longer-standing independent estates. Vineyards on the southwest slope sit at 300–350 meters elevation, where marl and limestone soils with mineral salts share the landscape with oak and ilex forests — a cooler position than the valley floor. Sangiovese Grosso is fermented and aged according to Brunello's extended aging requirements before release. The wine opens with coffee, tobacco, and dark cherry, with a mid-palate built on structured but approachable tannins and a persistent aromatic finish.
