Aging in American oak is the defining commitment at Marqués de Murrieta — every Reserva spends time in barrel and bottle before release, a method unchanged since founder Luciano de Murrieta produced Rioja's first commercial wines in 1852. The fruit comes entirely from Finca Ygay, a 300-hectare estate outside Logroño farmed under a single ownership, giving the winemaking team full control from vine to bottle. Tempranillo leads the blend alongside Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano, grown on clay-limestone soils under a continental climate. Expect dried cherry, cedar, vanilla, and a firm but integrated tannic finish.
