Finland's lonkero was born in 1952, when Helsinki-based Hartwall invented a premixed gin-and-grapefruit-soda format so bartenders could efficiently serve the Olympic crowds — a practical origin that turned into Finland's most enduring drink category. The Finnish Long Drink Company brought that tradition to the U.S. in 2018, and Strong Citrus is their high-ABV take: gin with natural grapefruit and juniper berry flavors, carbonated, all-natural, and gluten-free at 8.5% ABV. Expect a pronounced grapefruit aroma on the pour, bold citrus flavor throughout, and a clean, lightly bitter finish.
