Sangiovese Grosso from Montalcino's single-vineyard Ugolaia site produces one of the estate's most concentrated bottlings — and in the 2017 vintage, exceptional heat and drought pushed that concentration further than usual. Lisini has farmed this southwest-facing parcel organically for decades, with old vines drawing from the clay-rich galestro and alberese soils that define this corner of the appellation. Traditional aging in large Slavonian oak casks integrates tannin without masking the fruit. The wine pours deep garnet, opening with baked plum, dark cherry, and toasted spice, then finishing with surprising freshness given the vintage weight.
