LE STRETTE BAROLO RISERVA 'BERGERA PEZZOLE' 2015

A 28-to-35-day maceration on skins gives this Nebbiolo the structural backbone Barolo Riserva demands, followed by extended aging in both small oak and larger casks before release — and Le Strette only produces this wine in exceptional vintages. The fruit comes from the Bergera-Pezzole vineyard in Novello, planted 1997–1999 at 400–420 meters on calcareous soils mixed with sand and clay. Brothers Mauro and Savio Daniele have practiced certified sustainable viticulture since 2012. The 2015 shows red cherry, dried herbs, leather, and tar, with ripe linear tannins and a long, austere finish.
