Brothers Mauro and Savio Daniele founded Le Strette in 1997 in Novello, pioneering the revival of nearly extinct Nas-cëtta while establishing themselves among Barolo's elite producers through certified sustainable viticulture practiced since 2012. The Bergera-Pezzole vineyard sits at 400-420 meters elevation on complex calcareous soils mixed with sand and clay, planted in 1997-1999 to Nebbiolo that undergoes 28-35 day maceration followed by extended aging in small oak then larger casks. The 2015 Riserva—produced only in exceptional vintages with two additional years of maturation—delivers ruby garnet hues with aromas of red cherry, sweet baking spices, and dried herbs, while the palate shows powerful structure with ripe yet linear tannins, accents of leather and tar, and a long austere finish. Its drinking beautifully now, but will cellar for many many more years.
