Chianti Classico occupies the ridge country between Florence and Siena, where galestro and alberese soils — fractured schist and compact limestone — pull structure and minerality into Sangiovese that few other terroirs can match. Lanciola's Le Masse di Greve Riserva draws from 10 hectares at 300 meters on southwest-facing slopes in Greve, one of the appellation's better-regarded hillside crus. The 2016 vintage delivers intense ruby with burgundy edges, opening on ripe dark cherry, vanilla, and spice before a mid-palate of full weight, bright acidity, and fine tannins that carry through a persistent finish.
