LAGAVULIN THE DISTILLERS EDITION

Lagavulin Distillery on Islay's southern coast produces this Distiller's Edition through double maturation, finishing their peated single malt in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks that add dried fruit sweetness to the distillery's signature maritime smoke. The 43% ABV whisky opens with grass, peat smoke, and sea salt, transitions to vanilla and coffee notes from the sherry cask influence, and concludes with an extended finish of dark fruit, oak tannins, and lingering salinity that stretches well beyond typical Islay expressions. The PX cask secondary aging softens the aggressive coastal peat character while introducing fig and raisin complexity that creates balance between Lagavulin's bold smoke and the Spanish sherry wood's residual sugars.
