KUNIN CENTRAL COAST PAPE STAR RED 2019

Seth Kunin built his reputation around Rhône varietals long before they were fashionable in California, sourcing from sustainably-farmed vineyards on the Central Coast. This GSM blend draws from limestone-rich soils in the east-west transverse valleys, where marine air off the Pacific moderates temperatures and pushes diurnal swings that preserve acidity in the fruit. Fruit from Larner and Alisos Canyon vineyards contributes to the blend, and Kunin's minimal-intervention approach carries through fermentation. Dark cherry, cocoa, and wet earth open the nose; the palate delivers concentrated plum and black cherry with light tannins and a mineral finish.
