Kumquat, dried apricot, and baked apple pie lead the palate on this Russian River Valley Chardonnay, with lemon peel acidity cutting through a creamy mid-palate. Nightly ocean fog rolling off the Pacific slows ripening in the appellation's loamy, well-drained soils, preserving the natural tartness that keeps the wine from going heavy. Hand-harvested at night at varying ripeness levels, whole-cluster pressing retained freshness, while partial malolactic fermentation adds the subtle toasty roundness on the finish without overwhelming the fruit.
