Meyer lemon, grapefruit pith, and a flinty mineral snap hit first, backed by bracing acidity that keeps everything precise — and both come directly from the two soils this wine is named for: stony calcareous caillottes, which drive brightness and finesse, and dense clay-limestone marls, which add structure and length. Jean-Max Roger's domaine, rooted in the village of Bué since the 17th century, now farms 35 hectares across Sancerre and Menetou-Salon under brothers Thibault and Etienne. The 2025 Cuvée Marnes et Caillottes blends Sauvignon Blanc sourced from both soil types, with aging potential running three to fifteen years as bottle complexity builds.
