Founded in the early 1970s by Jerry Lohr, a South Dakota farmer who pioneered California's Central Coast as a world-class winegrowing region, J. Lohr farms over 2,700 sustainably managed acres in Paso Robles recognized for Bordeaux varietals. This 2022 Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon sources primarily from Shotwell Vineyard in the cool El Pomar District and Beck Vineyard at 1,700 feet in Creston District, where 100°F days and 50°F nights stress vines in gravelly, lime shale soils, enabling precise irrigation for dark fruit and resolved tannins. The Certified California Sustainable blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc delivers black cherry, currants, toasted pastry, baking spice, and a bright finish.
