HUGEL PINOT GRIS CLASSIC 2023

This wine has a scintillating youthful color with bright and intense shades of pale green, pistachio, lime tree and primrose yellows. The dense and fetching legs have a silvery sparkle. It has a powerful balanced aroma, youthfully reserved and sensitive. Well balanced and fresh notes of yellow peach, pear, Mirabelle, licorice, fresh almond and acacia honey. On the palate its feel is sophisticated, soft, velvet, full-flavoured with a pleasant vinuous texture which retains a sense of expressive and aromatic refinement that is beautifully prolonged with refreshing acidity.

Vinous (85-88pts): The 2023 Pinot Gris Classic allows glimpses of Comice pear on its nose with its still funky yeastiness. Likewise, the palate channels juicy, ripe pear but with a balancing and surprising coolness, skipping along with juiciness and fruity freshness. (Dry)

James Suckling (92pts): A properly dry pinot gris that is a model of balance and harmony, the creaminess balanced by discreet freshness on the medium-bodied palate. I love the fresh melon and orange blossom aromas. Just a hint of tannin in the finish adds a bit of tension. Drink now.
