HERON WINES PINOT NOIR 2023

Laely Heron blends sustainably-farmed fruit from Monterey, west Paso Robles, and Russian River—California's cool marine-influenced microclimates—using Wadenswill clones for brightness and Pommard 4 for earthiness in vineyards with no fertilizers or soil amendments. Night-harvested and delivered cold, partially destemmed clusters undergo 48-hour cold soak for color and fruit extraction, then pump-overs three times daily until 10 Brix, twice daily afterward, before completing malolactic in neutral barrels. Aged 12 months in medium-toast François Frères neutral oak at 13.5% alcohol, this 100% Pinot Noir shows violet, ripe cherry, crushed raspberry, sour cherry, earth, and toasted vanilla with light-bodied tannins, silky finish, and the delicacy Heron has emphasized since making Pinot before it was fashionable.
