Winemaker Haley Wight represents the sixth generation of her family farming the historic Lewelling Ranch in St. Helena since horticulturist John Lewelling established the property in 1864. The vineyard sits on gravelly alluvial soils washed down from the Mayacamas Mountains over millennia, forming coveted benchland where Cabernet Sauvignon was first planted in 1972. This Field Select Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with Merlot, comes from the same block and clone each vintage, producing concentrated fruit on well-drained soils. The wine shows black currant, plum, and cassis on the nose, backed by dark chocolate, graphite, cedar, and warm baking spice on the palate, finishing with layers of complexity that reflect nearly two decades of meticulous vineyard stewardship.
