Picardy's temperate climate and fertile plains earn it the nickname 'the breadbasket of France' — the same terroir that makes it the source of every grain of wheat in this bottle. Grey Goose uses single-origin blé panifiable supérieur, the top classification of French soft winter wheat, sourced from three farming co-operatives within 50 kilometers of its Saint-Quentin distillery. The wheat is milled and fermented on-site, then run through a continuous five-column still in a single pass before being blended with limestone-filtered spring water drawn from a natural aquifer roughly 500 feet below the Gensac-la-Pallue facility in Cognac. The nose leads with lemon zest and baked bread; the palate delivers almond, apple, and a faint crack of pepper, with a clean, smooth finish.
