GAJA CA MARCANDA PROMIS 2023

Angelo Gaja's Ca Marcanda project in Bolgheri was his first foray outside Piedmont, built from the ground up after he acquired land there in 1996. Promis blends Merlot, Syrah, and Sangiovese grown on limestone and clay soils that define the Bolgheri coastal plain, where maritime breezes moderate the warm Tuscan climate. Grapes are fermented separately for roughly 15 days, then aged in oak before blending — the result is layered red and dark fruit, Mediterranean scrub, and balsamic lift, with ripe tannins and a soft, lingering finish.
