G.B. BURLOTTO LANGHE BARBERA D'ALBA 2023

G.B. Burlotto cultivates Barbera in Verduno's L'Urdiä vineyard—one of the municipality's finest sites for this variety—where 0.77 hectares of vines thrive on laminated calcareous Cassano Spinola marl at 360 meters elevation with western exposure, the same fossil-rich limestone formations that define neighboring Barolo vineyards. Hand-harvested and de-stemmed, the fruit ferments in both open French oak vats and stainless steel with gentle daily extraction, then undergoes malolactic conversion in stainless steel before aging in large French oak barrels until late summer bottling. This Barbera d'Alba reveals remarkable depth and structure from its privileged terroir, releasing overtly territorial aromatics of dark cherry, earth, and spice so elegant they're often mistaken for Barolo before the first sip reveals Barbera's signature bright acidity and delicate tannins.
