Barolo's tightest soils — the blue-grey Tortonian marls of the Langhe hills — demand long hang times from Nebbiolo and reward patient producers like Francesco Rinaldi & Figli, a family house operating continuously since 1870. Their holdings include prized crus Brunate and Cannubi, and traditional winemaking guides every vintage: long maceration, large Slavonian oak casks, and extended cellaring before release. The 2019 opens with dried rose, tar, and red cherry, builds to a firm tannic core with iron and tobacco mid-palate, and finishes dry and persistent with orange peel and earth.
