FONSECA BIN #27

Founded in 1815, Fonseca launched Bin 27 commercially in 1972, naming it after the cellar bin-numbering tradition used for its Crusted Ports. The blend draws primarily from Fonseca's own estate vineyards — Panascal, Cruzeiro, and Santo António — in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Valley, where schist soils drive the wine's signature fruit density. Grapes are trodden using robotic 'Port Toes' technology that mimics foot treading; fermentation is halted with grape spirits, then the wine ages four years in neutral oak vats. Deep ruby in color, with blackberry, cassis, cherry, and plum on the nose, a velvety mid-palate, and a long black-fruit finish.
