Since 1920, the Sérol family has farmed above Renaison in Côte Roannaise at 500 meters elevation, achieving organic certification in 2014 and biodynamic in 2016 under fourth-generation vignerons Stéphane and Carine. This 2023 Perdrizières comes from a 1.5-hectare east-facing slope at 380-415 meters, planted in 1988 after decades fallow following hybrid vines—soil rich in iron oxide and manganese-laden porphyry granite retains water well, making this the estate's latest-ripening site. Indigenous Gamay de Saint-Romain at 8,500 vines per hectare ferments with 20-50% whole clusters using ambient yeast, ages 11 months in wood and concrete, yielding red fruit, blood orange, tapenade, and granite minerality.
