DOMAINE SEROL COTE ROANNAISE 'PERDRIZIERE' 2023

A Gamay that spent decades without vines — the Perdrizières plot sat fallow after hybrid varieties were pulled, then was replanted in 1988 with indigenous Gamay de Saint-Romain on iron oxide and manganese-rich porphyry granite. That soil retains water unusually well, making this the estate's latest-ripening site at 380–415 meters on an east-facing slope. Sérol, biodynamically certified since 2016, ferments with 20–50% whole clusters and ambient yeast, then ages 11 months in wood and concrete. Expect red fruit, blood orange, tapenade, and a firm granite minerality.
