Les Champgains is one of Chassagne-Montrachet's quieter premier cru climats — less celebrated than Morgeot or Caillerets, yet Michel Niellon's track record here rivals anything from the appellation's marquee sites. Farmed under lutte raisonnée by three generations of the Niellon family, the vineyard sits on the hallmark limestone soils of Chassagne's white-wine flank on the Côtes de Beaune. Fermented in stainless steel, the 2022 then ages in small oak barrels with a portion of new wood and periodic bâtonnage before bottling. Expect white pear, apple, subtle floral lift, and a pronounced mineral, stony finish.
