DOMAINE DUREUIL-JANTHIAL RULLY BLANC 1ER CRU 'MARGOTES' 2023

Rully's south-southeast slope of clay and limestone sits just 5 miles south of Chassagne-Montrachet, where chalk-laden soils near the slope's crest mirror the geological profile of the Côte de Beaune. Margotés is a continuation of 1er Cru Gresigny, planted in 1946, and farmed organically by Vincent Dureuil—who has run Domaine Dureuil-Janthial since 1994 and is widely regarded as the benchmark producer in the Côte Chalonnaise. Whole-bunch pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, the wine ages 12 months in barrel (20% new oak) followed by 6 months in tank before bottling un-fined and unfiltered—yielding a structured, mineral-driven Chardonnay with stone fruit, citrus, and chalky precision characteristic of the upper-slope parcels.
