Les Champeaux sits on the same north Gevrey slope as Clos St. Jacques and Cazatiers, its east-facing limestone bedrock worked entirely by horse—a practice Arnaud Mortet has maintained since 2008 on this 0.45-hectare practicing organic parcel. Vines of 70–80 years are harvested with 40% hand-cut whole clusters, fermented on indigenous yeasts, and aged 18 months in 60% new oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2023 scores 94–96 points (Jasper Morris MW): concentrated red fruit, blood orange, marmalade, and licorice with a powerful, precise, floral finish.
