DOMAINE DENIS MORTET FIXIN 'VIEILLES VIGNES' 2023

Arnaud Mortet—son of the late, iconic Denis Mortet and a protégé of the Henri Jayer school—farms this practicing organic 0.75-hectare parcel across two Fixin lieu-dits: Champs Pennebaut in the north and Champs des Charmes in the south. Vines exceed 60 years of age, are de-stemmed, and ferment on indigenous yeasts before 18 months in barrel with 25% new oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2021 delivers orange zest, cassis, and plum with a supple, medium-bodied palate and a floral finish built for early drinking.
