Domaine Armand Rousseau blends fruit from two Charmes-Chambertin parcels and one Mazoyères-Chambertin plot for this 2022 Grand Cru, the latter named for vignerons' tool sheds and composed of Comblanchien limestone with fine gravel from Combe Grisard. Charmes—meaning "stubble-field" for abandoned communal lands—features crinoid limestone on upper slopes transitioning to Comblanchien below. Fourth-generation winemaker Cyrielle Rousseau maintains traditional fermentation methods unchanged since 1909, producing a red that expresses the diverse limestone terroirs and gravel drainage defining these historic Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards.
